How RRT works

How a 90-minute session works

Most therapy sessions last about 50 minutes. Mine run 90. People sometimes ask why, and whether that's a lot of time to spend on video. Here's the reasoning, what a session actually looks like, and the practical details worth knowing before you book.

Why 90 minutes rather than 50

In a 50-minute session, it's common to spend the first stretch settling in and the last stretch winding down. That leaves a narrow window in the middle. Just as something starts to move, it's time to stop, and you walk out mid-thought.

Ninety minutes gives us room to finish. We can get to the thing that matters, work with it properly, and still have time at the end to notice what changed. It fits how Rapid Resolution Therapy works: focused sessions rather than many short ones.

Settling in and naming what you want different

We start with the practical: confirming you're in Florida and in a private space, and checking the connection. Then we talk about what you want to be different. Not a full history. Just what's in your way and what you'd like instead.

Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to work on. Others don't, and that's fine. Part of my job is to help you name it.

The work itself

The bulk of the session is a conversation. It's direct, sometimes funny, and focused on how your mind is holding whatever we're working with, rather than on a detailed retelling. You won't be asked to relive the details.

You stay in control the whole way. If you need to slow down, we slow down. If something isn't landing, tell me and we'll adjust in the room. You can pause for water, a stretch or a breath whenever you like.

Noticing what shifted

Toward the end, we look at what's different. Sometimes that's obvious. Sometimes it's subtle, and you'll notice it more over the following days, when you run into the situation that used to set you off. We'll talk about what to pay attention to.

There's no homework stack. If a small, practical idea would help, from CBT or mindfulness, I'll suggest it. Nothing more.

Deciding next steps together

We finish by deciding what comes next. For some people that's booking another session. For others it's taking some time to see how things settle. There's no preset package and no pressure. You decide.

The practical side

You need a private space where you won't be overheard or interrupted: a closed room, a parked car, wherever works. You need to be physically in Florida at the time of the session; that's a licensing requirement, not a preference. A stable internet connection and a device with a camera are enough.

The fee is $225 per 90-minute session. The practice is private pay, and insurance isn't billed. Full details are on the fees page. If you need to cancel, the full session fee applies unless the session is rescheduled, so please let me know as early as you can.

Booking hours are Monday to Thursday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Eastern. Weekends are closed.

After the session

Leave yourself a little space afterward if you can. Not hours, but maybe not a hard meeting the minute you close the laptop. Some people feel lighter, some feel tired, some feel nothing much and notice changes later. All of that is normal.

More common questions are answered on the FAQ page.

Your first session

Before your first session, intake paperwork is sent to you directly after booking. It covers contact details, an emergency contact, confirmation that you'll be in Florida for sessions, consent to meet by video, fees and the cancellation policy, and the limits of confidentiality. Nothing needs to be downloaded from the website.

The first session follows the same shape as any other. We'll spend a little more time at the start making sure you know how things work and what you can expect, and you're welcome to ask anything. For setup, see how to prepare for a telehealth session and what to expect in your first session.

Questions people ask

Take one. You can pause at any point, for water, the bathroom, a breath, anything. The time is yours and you're in control of the pace.

It sounds long, but it often goes quicker than people expect because it's a real conversation, not a lecture. We can take breaks, and being in your own space often makes it easier than an office.

We decide together. Some people book another session, others wait to see how things settle. There's no package or minimum commitment.
